Why fix it in Post when you can do it Right in Production

Professionalism

With proper preparation and a realistic budget, any production can achieve a stellar look and feel

pro·fes·sion·al·ism:  the standing, practice, or methods of a professional, as distinguished from an amateur.

Professionalism includes being completely loyal to you, my client.  Under no condition will I ever do business with your client or investor directly.  I go to extremes to reinforce your company's reputation and skills so your client has a far greater respect for your services and abilities.  I never take credit for any aspect of my services and instead give you and your firm credit for all successes.

The Line Producer helps set the tone of the production through a professional and competent demeanor.  It means:

  • Being available 24 hours a day
  • Never complaining
  • Knowing when to speak up and when to hold back
  • Having the knowledge and capability to accurately prepare and execute special needs
  • Having a complete understanding of equipment and vendors
  • Having strong and effective knowledge of post-production
  • Having a personal relationship with every member of the crew
  • Know when and how to intercede when problems arise
  • Taking the time and effort to study and understand the subject matter of the shoot
  • Is able to anticipate changes and then adjust quickly to them
  • Just being there at the right time.

Most Line Producers have special skills in some areas, but lack general overall knowledge, so they are limited in their ability to communicate and function effectively.  Some Line Producers are great in the office but have little or no understanding of set operations, while others fail to do the appropriate office work and leave office issues dangling.

A true professional Line Producer has a complete understanding of labor and safety laws as well as the financial principals of film and television production.  Being able to present budgets and actuals that factually present the pecuniary status of the production allows the producers to make the necessary decisions to effect the most creative product.
